Changing the World for Christ

Our school vision declares that we “prepare and equip young men and women to engage the world and change it for Jesus Christ.” As followers of Christ, we are called to unflinchingly and appropriately condemn evil, injustice, and lawlessness. Westminster is committed to helping students understand the imperative of promoting justice and peace, finding appropriate ways to speak to injustice, and actively seeking to redress injustice whenever and wherever it occurs.

Pursuing Cultural Engagement in the Classroom

Our academic program offers much in the way of cultural engagement. Our course offerings include Worldviews, Race and Culture, Psychology, Global Conflicts, and many more. In addition to these offerings, teachers in all classes consistently strive to help our students understand and engage with the world around them based on the biblical truth that is at the core of Westminster’s mission and vision. This engagement is centered on the belief that we cannot ignore the difficult issues of our time. Instead, we must work to understand them so that we might provide solutions and restoration to our communities and our world.

Reaching Higher as a Community

We understand that it takes time, effort, and intentionality—along with much prayer—to create a biblical, multicultural community. Westminster is regularly reviewing existing councils, programs, and practices—and implementing new ones—as we work to grow in understanding and unity as a school community. Recently implemented initiatives include:

  • Cultural awareness training led by Aaron Layton, Coordinator for Minority Community Development & Inclusion and Westminster’s Faculty Minority Outreach Council.

  • The Senior Leadership Advisory Council reflects the diversity of our parent community and also includes the Senior Leadership Team and the coordinator of minority community outreach.

  • Weekly cultural dialogues designed to give African-American students an opportunity to share insight about minority student life with principals, teachers, counselors, classmates, and staff.
