Westminster senior Drew Messey has been named the Class 4 State Player of the Year, capping off a very accomplished baseball career as a Wildcat.

Drew was a driving force behind Westminster's run to a fourth-place finish in the Class 4 State Tournament and a 23-17 overall record. Throughout the season, he consistently delivered at the plate while providing veteran leadership for a team that advanced to the state's final four.

The Louisville signee put together an outstanding senior campaign, batting .409 with a .521 on-base percentage and a .704 slugging percentage. In 146 plate appearances, Drew collected 47 hits, including 13 doubles, six triples, and three home runs. He scored 40 runs, drove in 36 RBIs, and reached base at an elite rate while serving as one of the most dangerous hitters in Class 4.

Messey's impact on Westminster baseball will be felt for years to come, but his baseball journey is far from over. Drew’s summer has opportunities to attend Major League Baseball evaluation events this summer in advance of the professional draft with current plans to compete at the NCAA Division I level next year.
