We are pleased to announce Deb Legters as the next Head Coach of the Girls Tennis program. Legters succeeds Madeline Bishop, who is stepping away after 10 years leading the Wildcats.

During her decade at the helm, Bishop guided Westminster to two district championships, a state runner-up finish in 2021, and helped develop three individual state medalists. Beyond the victories and accolades, she built a culture centered on excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork while making a lasting impact on the lives of countless student-athletes.

Legters brings extensive coaching experience and a deep connection to Westminster and the sport of tennis. A four-year varsity player at Calvin University, she earned All-Conference honors during her senior season and received the Sue Little Sportsmanship Award.

Her coaching resume includes ten years as a teaching professional at Woodsmill Racquet Club, serving as Westminster’s varsity boys and girls tennis coach from 1996-2002, and coaching Westminster middle school boys and girls tennis from 2023-2026. She has also spent many years as a private tennis instructor and has directed Westminster Tennis Camps for more than a decade.

Coach Legters and her husband, Dan, a Westminster teacher and soccer coach for more than 25 years, have deep roots in the Westminster community. Their three children are all Westminster graduates.

Having already invested years into developing Westminster student-athletes both on and off the court, Legters is well-positioned to lead the next chapter of the girls tennis program. The Wildcats are excited for the future and look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion she will bring to the role.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Legters as the new head coach of Westminster Girls Tennis and thanking Coach Bishop for her tremendous decade of service to Wildcat tennis.
