Summer Programs

South Dakota

Over the course of an eight-day trip through Badlands National Park, the Wounded Knee Memorial, and the Cheyenne River, students explore the theme of “restoration” through literature, history, and environmental science. The focus of the course is the development of a biblical understanding of restoration: the responsibility of all Christians to work towards the restoration of the earth to God’s original intent. Following the academic work, students embark on a two-day kayak tour on the Cheyenne River and a three-day backpacking trip in the Badlands.

South Korea

Students work with Westminster teachers to design a one-week English summer camp at Saemmul Christian Academy, our partner school in South Korea. Westminster students not only develop the curriculum but also deliver the curriculum during the camp. Students have amazing opportunities such as seeing Seoul, attending a Korean church, staying with generous host families, and enjoying many cultural landmarks.

Summer Cultural and Language Immersion Experience, SCLIE, is an intense, highly motivating, authentic opportunity for advanced world language students to apply and integrate their language knowledge and skills. During these 10-15 day trips, students will be immersed in the language and culture through guided travel, interaction with students from a partner school, and interaction with host families.

France

Students travel to France for a language and culture immersion experience. Students are immersed in the French language as they visit historical sites around the country and tour Paris. Prior to the trip, students meet with Westminster’s French language teachers to complete a course that prepares them for the places they will encounter while in France.

Spain

Students attend classes at Alfa y Omega in Denia, Spain. They have opportunities to experience Spanish culture on day trips with host families from the school and with the Westminster group. Students travel to Madrid for a three-day tour of the city. Prior to the trip, students meet with Westminster’s Spanish language teachers to complete a course that prepares them for the places they will encounter while in Spain.
