Wildcats Slam Hawks

It's been 14 years since a Wildcat baseball team has beaten the Valley Park Hawks. Even yesterday no one gave them much of a chance. Valley Park is rated the #1 team in the latest Suburban Journal Poll. However, no one told the boys this as they traveled to Valley Park to battle the Hawks. The game went back and forth, as the two teams combined for 31 hits and 18 runs in the first 6 innings. In the 7th inning senior Ben Stegmann stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. In what was his best impression of the Natural, Ben hit a screaming 425 foot homerun off the telephone wires across the street in a neighboring lot. Oh my! Is there anything better that beating Valley Park in baseball? Ask dancin' Coach Van Gilst!
