Back to Back 1st place titles for Team Champions and Brooke Cusumano as Individual Champion!

Congratulations to the girls’ golf team for going back-to-back and winning the 2012 Missouri State Golf Championship! Brooke Cusumano also went back-to-back as the Individual Champion. Jordan Wolf finished in second place and McKenna Montgomery placed 14th to collect All-State Honors. Megan McDaniel (26th) and Ciara Younger (29th) each contributed to the victory for the Wildcats in the field of 89 players! Again, congratulations Cats!

Day 1 of State golf recap...

The girls golf team is currently in first place after day one of the Missouri State Championships in New Bloomfield. The team has a 33 stroke lead over the second place team (Villa) and a 43 stroke lead over the 3rd place team (Sacred Heart). Brooke Cusumano leads all competitors with a 3 over par 75 and teammate Jordan Wolf is in second one stroke behind her. The young guns of McKenna Montgomery and Megan McDaniel had great rounds playing in their first State Championship. Montgomery came in with an 89 while McDaniel carded a 90. The Cats are hoping to repeat as State Champions if they can overcome the beautiful but challenging course at Meadow Lake Acres and today's forecasted 25 mph wind.

District Champions 3rd straight year!!

The varsity girls’ golf team is the Class 1, District 1 Champions! For the third straight year, the varsity girls’ golf team has won its District Championship. With what may be a state record for a District Championship, the team shot a low score of 308. Villa came in second with a 347 and MICDS captured the third place spot with a 351. Jordan Wolf was the individual District Champion for the second year. Her even par 72 was the best in the field of 10 schools. Brooke Cusumano came in second place with her 74, only two strokes behind her teammate. McKenna Montgomery saved her best for this important tournament with a round of 80 and a fourth place finish. Ciara Younger took the eighth spot with a great round of 82 and Megan McDaniel was not to be outdone and finished in the 13th spot with an 85. All five Wildcat golfers collected top 15 medalists’ honors. It was a great performance by all the girls as they gear up for the Sectional Tournament on Monday, October 8, in Eldon, Missouri.

Metro Champions 2 years in a row!!

The dynamic trio of Cusumano, Wolf and Younger did it again by going first, second, and third in the Metro League Conference Tournament yesterday, helping Westminster win its second straight Conference title. The story of the day may have been Claire Kopsky’s round of 42. Claire had bettered her best score of the season by six strokes and became the fourth scorer for the Wildcats. Megan McDaniel had a nice round of 46 and McKenna Montgomery added the final score. The Cats are gearing up to defend their District title on Wednesday at The Spirit of St. Louis golf course. Great job Wildcats!

Undeafeated regular season for 2nd year in a row!!

The varsity girl’s golf team remained undefeated through the regular season for the second year in a row. To keep the streak alive they defeated the Knights of Borgia 158 – 196. Playing a scramble format the “Dream Team” of Cusumano and Wolf, lost to a freshman and a one-eyed senior (Younger and Montgomery). Ciara Younger had been nursing the after affects of a ball that hit her left eye (nearly closing it) from the practice the day before. It was a great match that went down to the wire but the putting of Younger and Montgomery prevailed. The Cats’ next action is today as they try to defend the Metro League Conference Championship title.
