Cats lose rematch with Viz to end season.

In what turned out to be the pick day of the week, the Cats travelled down the road for a rematch with Visitation who had lost 2-1 earlier in the season. It didn't take long to see that they were determined to avenge the earlier loss and in the first ten minutes of the game they put the Cats on the defensive and didn't let them get out of their half. Little by little, the Cats began to break the Vivette rhythm and started to regain position on the field, but they struggled to find any good opportunities on goal. Defenders Chloe Carnahan, Courtney McGhee, Haley Bettlach and Christina Dohr, along with goalie Sarah Clark were very busy all day long as they found themselves constantly clearing balls and trying to stop attackers from taking them on. In the 2nd half, the Cats did find some opportunities to get into the attack, with Katie Haverstick moving on the left wing and Ellie Huffman and Margaret Moore trying to support from their midfield position. The Cats best chance came with 10 minutes left in the 2nd half as the ball was knocked around the Vivette box but no one could get in a position to take a clear shot and Viz finally cleared the ball. Once again, the Cats found themselves playing in overtime, but as soon as they began the 1st overtime, the Vivettes found themselves with a great opportunity to score and did not let that chance get away. With the loss the Cats say farewell to seniors Sarah Clark, Katie Haverstick, Christina Dohr, Adrienne Boyd, and Emily Sherman. May the Lord bless your future plans and we thank you for your effort and your committment these last four years.

Wildcats head to district semi-final.

Congratulations to the Varsity Soccer team as they advanced to the semi-final match in their district. In what turned out to be a rain soaked match, the Wildcats quickly found themselves on their heels as the St. Charles West Warriors put the pressure on them early. As the game progressed, the Wildcats started to find their rhythm and started to gain a little bit of territory on the Warriors. After a scoreless 1st half, the Cats made some adjustments that quickly resulted in some opportunities, as Katie Haverstick began making runs on the left wing and the midfield trio of Margaret Moore, Ellie Huffman and Madeleine Smith were able to break up the Warrior dominance in mid-field. The game ended with a scoreless tie and headed to overtime, and 7 minutes into the game, Madeleine Smith won the ball in midfield, played it out wide to the right to Shelby Kehr who took on her defender by coming back inside and then hitting a shot/cross across the box that got deflected into the goal by a Warrior defender. Next game is a rematch against Viz who looks to avenge a loss earlier in the season. Come out Tuesday at Viz to watch them fight for a chance to get to the final.

Wildcats win tournament!!!

It was cardiac, it was nervous, it was 1st place. The varsity soccer team, after giving up an early goal, scored three unanswered goals, thanks to Shelby Kehr and Meg Rasche who had two, to lead Orchard Farm 3-1. But with 20 minutes left in the game, Orchard Farm mounted a comeback that forced the game into overtime. In the first overtime, the Cats kep the pressure but couldn't capitalize. In the beginning of the 2nd overtime period, Summer Smith took the sweeper out of position with her dribble, then found Katie Haverstick making a run in the box and slotted the ball to her and Katie unleashed an unexpected shot that went right inside the post on the far side for the game winner. The Cats are on a roll as this was their 8th win in a row, and their record going into the last week of the season stands at 12-3.
