One more win for the Wildcats.
WCA shot 235 to Chaminade’s 249 led by Sophomore Ryan Haxel who shot a one under par 35 to lead the entire match. Right behind Haxel was Alex Cusumano who shot an even par 36. Peter Sippel and Kevin Vande Kamp made big contributions to secure the win—both shooting 40’s! Matt McDaniel and Tim Reed rounded out the scoring with both shooting 42’s on the day. Districts are coming up in two weeks. Stay tuned to see if the Wildcats finish the regular season undefeated.
Westminster Christian Academy came out victorious winning by 10 strokes!
On Monday, twenty-four of the best golf teams in the St. Louis area assembled to compete in the prestigious Webster Cup Tournament including class 4A powerhouses such as Chaminade, Parkway South, CBC, Desmet, etc. When all was said and done Westminster Christian Academy came out victorious winning by 10 strokes!
WCA won first place as a team shooting a tournament record 290!
Twenty teams competed yesterday in the Warrenton Invitational including teams like Columbia Hickman, a perennial powerhouse in Class 4A golf (a class bigger than our school). When all was said and done WCA won first place as a team shooting a tournament record 290! Not only did the team place first, but also out of some 100 golfers,Kevin Bell came in first place individually shooting a “Phil Mickelson” like one under par 69! However, wait there is more; not to be outdone Peter Sippel, Alex Cusumano and Ryan Haxel all added to the awards by tying for second place with one over par 71’s! Tim Reed came up big with a five over par 75 that gave him 15th place. Matt Brugner and Kevin Vande Kamp helped seal the first place finish with a 79 and 80, respectively.
The wins continue to pile up for the WCA golfers.
The wins continue to pile up for the WCA golfers. Taking on two good teams—Clayton and Seckman—the Cats came out on top 155 to Clayton’s 171 and Seckman’s 176. Seniors Kevin Bell and Alex Cusumano led the way with one over par 37’s on a very tough Gateway National Golf Course. Kevin Vande Kamp continued his strong play with a 39. Also, contributing in the W was Matt Brugner with a 41, Tim Reed, Peter Sippel and Matt McDaniel with 42’s. Great team effort!
