Final Doubleheader to Close Out Season
It’s been a tough week for the JV Wildcats. On Tuesday, the Cats lost to St. Charles West 8-7 and on Wednesday they lost to Burroughs, 7-5. Today, The JVers look to bounce back from these two losses with two wins in a doubleheader against Christian High today at 4 p.m. Come out and watch the JV team take on Christian High’s JV AND Varsity teams as they look to end their season in victory.
Today's 5/11 gametime has been moved back.
Due to field conditions, BOTH Varsity and JV games will be played here at Westminster today 5/11. Varsity will start at 3:45 with JV to follow at as soon as possible after Var game ~approximately 6:00pm
Wildcats Can't Hold Off the Hounds
The JV Wildcats let a win slip away to the resilient Greyhounds of Clayton yesterday, losing 5-4 on a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the seventh. Despite stellar pitching from Ben Lovell, who fanned 11, untimely errors and missed opportunities led to the Cats’ ultimate undoing. Down 4-3 going in the top of the seventh, spark plug Bryce Bell got a rally going with his second single off the bench, and DH Ben Mitchell eventually got him home on a sacrifice fly to tie the game, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Hounds.
Three Up, Three Down Against Lutheran South
The JV Wildcats beat Lutheran South's Lancers for the third time in six days 12-5 yesterday, boosting WCA's record (ironically) to 12-5 on the season. The Cats had a balanced attack at the plate, with every starter getting at least one hit and scoring at least once, and pitchers Davis Vanderslice and Michael Dudley combined efforts on the mound for the seven inning win. The Cats finish up their winning week with a 4:15 game at Clayton today.
Westminster Beats Rival MICDS
The JV Wildcats continued their winning ways yesterday, beating MICDS 11-1. Mark McFarland got the win, striking out six and holding the Rams to just one run until the WCA bats warmed up in the fifth inning, after which the Wildcats never looked back. Wes Froeschner scored a total of four times, Jacob Buffa went 3-for-5 including a two-RBI triple, and McFarland had a 3-for-5 day, including four RBIs. Michael Dudley then came on in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings to get the save. The JV Wildcats are now 11-5 on the season.
