Our Westminster Swimmen Women finished their regular season with a strong victory
Our Westminster Swimmen Women finished their regular season with a strong victory over the feared Bombers of John Burroughs 91 to 88. First place relays were Abbie Clark, Haley Bergman, Rebecca Zandstra and Katherine Fleissner in the 200 Medley, Shay Weststeyn, Rebecca Krause, Zandstra and Fleissner in the 200 Free and 400 Free. Individiual winners were Weststeyn in the 50 Free, Zandstra in the 100 Fly, Fleissner in the 100 Free, and Julie Sharp in diving. Congratulations to all swimmers and in particular the senior swimmers for a great regular season…. On to league and state.

WCA swept past Principia last night 127 to 57. First place relays were Rebecca Zandstra, Haley Bergman, Margaret Moore and Katherine Fleissner in the 200 Medley, Rebecca Krause, Shay Weststeyn, Fleissner and Zandstra in the 200 Free, and Fleissner, Zandstra, Krause and Weststeyn in the 400 Free. Individual winners were Bergman in the 200 IM, Wesststeyn in the 50 Free, Zandstra in the 100 Fly, Fleissner in the 100 Free and Amber Terschak in the 100 Backstroke. It was senior recognition day and the last home meet for 14 senior swimmers... Congratulations to all those swimmers for a great season and great career!!

Last night Westminster swam past Ursuline 116 – 64. First place relays were the 200 medley of Abbie Clark, Hannah Worrell, Haley Bergman and Rebecca Zandstra, the 200 free relay of Clark, Rebecca Krause, Katherine Fleissner and Shay Weststeyn, and the 400 free relay of Fleissner, Weststeyn, Krause and Zandstra. Individual winners were Zandstra in the 200 im and 100 fly, Fleissner in the 50 and 100 free, Bergman in the 100 breaststroke, Ellie Straub in the 100 back and Julie Sharp in diving. The last home meet is Thursday against Principia.
Westminster took second at last Friday’s swim meet
Westminster took second at last Friday’s swim meet losing to MICDS but swamping Lutheran South 136 to 111 to 67. Finishing first and lowering their state qualifying time was the 200 free relay of Katherine Fleissner, Rebecca Krause, Shay Weststeyn and Rebecca Zandstra. Also qualifying for State for her first time ever was Katherine Fleissner in the 50 Freestyle by 11/100th of a second! Congratulations to all the swimmers and special thanks goes out to Coach Muelheisen and the wrestling team who’s deafening cheers brought out a number of personal bests by our swimmers!

WCA varsity swimmers lost a close one to Cor Jesu 92 – 84. Relay winners were Abbie Clark, Haley Bergman, Rebecca Zandstra and Katherine Fleissner in the 200 Medley and Shay Weststeyn, Rebecca Krause, Fleissner and Zandstra in the 400 Free Relay. Individual winners include Fleissner in the 100 Free, Zandstra in the 100 Fly and 100 Back, and Sarah Barker in Diving.
