Fall 2010 Season
Incarnate Word Left Speechless
The Incarnate Word volleyball powerhouse came out to Westminster and was out powered, out hustled and out maneuvered by the Wildcats. Volleyball is always a team effort and the glory goes to God, but there are always noteworthy individual efforts.
Solid backfield play came from libero Elizabeth Miller flanked by Captain Kaylee Rosen and Megan Rasche. Towering “in your face” blocks came from Sadie Stipanovich and Captain Kelsey Kindbom. Rosen also had nearly a half dozen kills and ran off 6 straight serves including 2 aces. Like a gymnast approaching the springboard in the vault competition, Rosen starts 20 feet behind the service line, runs, tosses the ball, jumps and then BAM! She launches bombs deep in opponent territory. Kindbom and Becky Canfield were dominant hitters from the outside each with numerous kills thanks to well lofted sets from Megan Smith. Athletic Kayla Gebhardt seems to do it all with ease. She set, hit and even had several aces against Incarnate Word. Canfield turned it up to 11 on her serves with nearly half landing for aces. Fortunately, no opposing players were injured attempting to return Canfield’s serve. Dani Evans provided solid hitting and positioned herself well with some excellent point saving digs while covering at the net. She has a natural instinct for this game and great reflexes.
Hey all you Wildcat fans listen up. You only have 2 more games left in the season to catch this amazing group of ladies. Next game is Monday October 19th at 4:30pm.
As always … To God be the Glory.
