Golf Ties for 2nd at State Championships

GOLF Congratulations to the girls’ golf team for their third place finish at the State Tournament in Sedalia! The girls tied for second place, but lost the tiebreaker to Pembroke Hill and placed only 11 strokes behind this year’s champions—Savannah. The Cats were led by Senior Kristin Kilpatrick and her first round score of 81, which put her in third, place overall for the tournament. Kristin became only the 23rd girl in the history of the 35-year tournament to win All-State Honors in each of her four years as a high school player. Brooke Cusumano placed 19th out of the 121-girl field, while Margaret Moore and Hillary Franz each carded good rounds to keep the team in the hunt for the trophy! Congrats on a fantastic season!

Headed To State!

The varsity golf team took second place in the District Tournament yesterday held at The Landings of Spirit of St. Louis golf course! Brooke Cusumano led the charge for the Wildcats with her 88 and a sixth place finish. Kristin Kilpatrick, who struggled with her putter on the lightning fast greens, added a 93 and an eighth place finish. Margaret Moore played her steady brand of golf and knocked down a 98, which was good enough for an 11th place finish, and Hillary Franz finished in 14th place for the Cats. This is only the second time in team history that a Wildcat team has qualified out of the tough District , which contains powerhouse golf schools Villa, Visitation, MICDS, and Borgia. The team will now travel to Sedalia Country Club to compete for the Class 1 crown! "Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night!"

Two for One

The varsity golf team defeated not one but two teams yesterday. The Cats won their matches with the second best score in team history—178. Fort Zumwalt – South and West could only muster scores of 215 and 235. The Cats leading scorers were Kristin Kilpatrick's 41, Margaret Moore's 43 and Brooke Cusumano's 44! The Cats look to duplicate the feat as the play at the Aberdeen golf course in Eureka again today against Ursline Academy.

Cats Down Knights With Top Five

The Varsity team traveled way west yesterday to the challenging Franklin County Country Club. It was a beautiful day for golf especially for the cats as the defeated Borgia (for the second year in a row), 172 – 214. Four Wildcats shot in the 40’s while Kristin Kilpatrick carded a 38. Kilpatrick shot the low score of the day despite losing her first shot of the day, and taking a 6 on the opening hole. Brooke Cusumano was second with her 40 as she proved that the hills and trees of Franklin County were no test for her skills. Margaret Moore netted the 3rd best score with a 45 and played her steady brand of consistent golf. Hillary Franz and Lauren Hance each broke into the 40’s with 49’s and caused the Wildcats to finish with the top 5 players for the match.
