10 state swimmers in first 3 meets - we're on a roll!!
Over a 24 period our Swimmen Women swamped Viz on Friday and finished 3rd at the 16 team Ladue Invitational on Saturday morning which was our highest team finish at that meet. Friday's first place relays were the 200 Medley of Rebecca Zandstra, Haley Bergman, Margaret Moore and Annie Clark, the 200 Free relay of Katherine Fleissner, Shay Weststeyn, Moore and Clark and the 400 Relay of Clark, Weststeyn, Fleissner and Zandstra. Individual firsts were Zandstra in the 50 Free, Clark in the 100 Free and Bergman in the 100 Breastroke. In the Ladue Invitational meet the 200 Free relay team of Fleissner, Clark, Zandstra and Molly Anderson placed 1st. other top 8 finishers in the Ladue meet were Bergman, Zandstra, Hannah Worrell and Clark in the medley (2nd), and Clark, Fleissner, Sarah Duffy, and Abbie Clark in the 400 Free (4th). Zandstra in the 100 Free and Back(2nd), and 25 Free (5th), Annie Clark in the 50 Free (3rd), Fleissner in the 50 (4th), Bergman in the 100 Breaststroke (2nd) and 100 IM (8th) and Worrell in the 100 Fly (7th). There were 3 more state qualifying times at these meets (Zandstra 100 back, 50 Free, Annie Clark 100 Free) bringing the total number of state times to 10 in the first three meets!!
History was made!!
Our ladies swim team drenched Francis Howell North 113 to 56. In the history of Westminster, there has never been more than five state qualifying times in one meet until last night. In a show of power, there were seven qualifying times. Those events and swimmers were the 200 Medley relay of Rebecca Zandstra, Haley Bergman, Hannah Worrell and Annie Clark and the 200 and 400 Free relay of Zandstra, Shay Weststeyn, Katherine Fleissner and Clark. Individually, Zandstra qualified in the 50 Free and 100 Fly and Clark in the 50 Free and 100 Free. Other first place finishers last night were Molly Anderson in the 100 Free and Worrell in the 100 Backstroke. Congrats to all the swimmers for a great meet! Next up Visitation at home on Friday.
