Tournament of Champions
It was the first time our school has ever been invited to play this very selective tournament. The goal of the tournament is to bring 8 of the very best teams together from all over the state and have them compete. Schools came from Kansas City, Joplin, and Columbia; there were also several St. Louis schools invited; each brought 2 singles players and 2 doubles teams. And overall (though newbies), Westminster players held their own! Joe Hunsicker had the best result, finishing #8 out of a field of 16 (remember, these are the best players out there from both big and small schools). Brian Keffer finished JUST behind Joe @ #9, beating strong players from Rockhurst and Rockbridge along the way. Jimmy Munson and Brandon DeRousse paired up to finish 11th out of the field of 16 doubles teams - while Seth Lillenberg and Nick O'Neal finished 13th. Overall, it was a great tournament and a fantastic first experience in it. The team hopes to be invited back in the future.
