Bell State Champ!
Kevin Bell has a few nicknames and titles that he is called on the golf team. Add another title to his name now—State Champion! Huge congratulations to Kevin for coming in first place at the State Golf Tournament by shooting a 74 and 75 and winning as a sophomore by two strokes over 129 of some of the best high school golfers in Missouri. What makes the feat all the more impressive, is that the course is one of the hardest we have played all season, and the wind was blowing both days at times up to 20 mph. Congratulate Kevin on his tremendous accomplishment! Congratulations as well to the other two State qualifiers Alex Cusumano and Tim Reed for their strong play under very tough conditions. Alex shot an 82 and 83 for a solid showing at State and Tim came back with a strong second day shooting 84. Congratulate all of these young men for how well they represented Westminster both through golf and through their conduct this past weekend.
District Championship
The Westminster golf team did what it has done all season—represent WCA in fine fashion. The guys finished the regular season by placing second in the district out of 10 teams. It was sophomore day at the golf course as Kevin Bell, Alex Cusumano and Tim Reed all qualified for the state golf tournament. Kevin Bell led the way tying for third overall with a sizzling three over par 73. Alex Cusumano was solid with a 75 and Tim Reed saving his best performance for last this season shot a 76 which included an even par 35 on the back nine. Solidifying the second place finish Peter Sippel and Peter Boggs shot 81 and 82 showing consistency and class as they have all season. Congratulate all these gentlemen if you get a chance!
Consistent Play
The golf team continued their consistent play yesterday with five golfers shooting in the 30's but ran into a hot SLUH team who came out four strokes better. The Cats were led by Kevin Bell who shot an even par 35 followed by Peter Boggs with a 38 and then Alex Cusumano, Ryan Wiggins and Tim Reed who all played solid with each shooting 39.
ABC Tournament
The golf team continued the its consistent play this spring with a solid showing at the ABC Conference Tournament placing second behind last year's state champs—Priory. All five of the Westminster golfers made either first or second team all conference on a very tough Old Warson Country Club golf course. Freshman Peter Sippel stepped up to tie for fourth individually and make first team all conference by shooting a 77. Mr. Clutch, Kevin Bell, tied for fourth and made first team all conference by shooting a 77 as well. Sophomore Tim Reed came up big by shooting an 81 and Alex Cusumano secured the second place finish with an 82. Another strong showing guys!
Please note the location change today 4/18 for the Burroughs match.
The course will now be Ruth Park.
Warrenton Tournament
Congratulations to the golf team for a very respectable showing yesterday in the Warrenton Golf Tournament. Out of 16 teams, WCA came in fourth place missing first by only 11 strokes. Kevin Bell led WCA with a dominating performance of even par 70 (shooting one under par on the back nine). Not only did Kevin lead WCA, but also out of 70 golfers, he came in second place (missing first by one stroke. Peter Boggs made a major contribution to the team by tying for 11th place with a 76. Alex Cusumano and Peter Sippel had strong showings with an 80 and 81 respectively. Way to represent WCA guys!

Hard-Fought Match
The golf team took on Priory, the defending State champs, at Bellerive Country Club. After a hard–fought match, the Cats came up just four strokes short losing 254 to 258. Kevin Bell led the way with a strong two over par 38. Alex Cusumano was two under par after seven holes on Bellerive! (Just don't ask Alex about the last hole.) Peter Boggs rounded out the scoring with a solid 42. Overall, it was a good showing by the guys!
Chaminade tough opponent for WCA golfers
The boys’ golf team came up just a little short in a tough fought match against perennial powerhouse Chaminade. Despite coming out on the losing end the guys continued their strong play on a tough golf course including a one over par by Kevin Bell, two over by Peter Boggs and three over by Alex Cusumano.

Golf team defeats Lutheran North and Lutheran St. Charles

Kevin Bell added a solid 41, Tim Reed contributed a 43 and Peter Sippel shot a 44 to ensure the win.
Golfers do well!
The sun was not the only thing shining yesterday as the Cats defeated conference rival MICDS and Whitfield in one fell swoop. Sophomore Kevin Bell led all 24 golfers with a match best 41. Senior Peter Boggs and Freshman Peter Sippel each came up huge as well t o seal the victory. Great win gentlemen!
First win!
Unbelievable—the boys’ golf team actually played yesterday in the rain on a heavily soaked golf course that had been completely flooded two weeks earlier. Believable— the Wildcats came out victorious over both Clayton and Lutheran South! Picking up from where they left off last year Sophomores Kevin Bell—two over par and Alex Cusumano—three over par paved the way for the victory. Also, making a huge contribution Sophomore Tim Reed with a 41 and coming through to secure the victory Senior Peter Boggs with a 43. Great job guys!
