Fall 2008 Season

Season Closer a Winner

The last game of the regular season (Feb. 2nd vs. the Ladue Rams) kept the scoreboard movin'........ Jimmy Munson was back on track tonight after being shut-out in last night's game.......five goals and two assists back on track! All were accomplished with Munson's trademark skill and style that we've come to expect and respect. He scored the first and last goals of the game and 3 in the middle. In addition to Munson's scores, Daniel Kim added 2 goals and 4 assists. Thanks to the return of defenseman Nathan Smallwood, Kim was able to move from his usual defensive position up to center ice tonight to cover for the missing Daniel Kaufman. Both shots for Kim's goals tonight were hard and fast. The first came from so short a distance that the goalie couldn't even react before the puck was wrapped in the net. The second came from further away and the goalie managed to snag it with his glove, but momentum won out and the he dropped the puck and let it trickle in. Vince Cascella was fed several nice passes in front of the net tonight. He managed to nail two of them for goals, one from Kim and one from Munson. The one from Munson was memorable because while the Cats were on a penalty kill, the ref raised his arm to signify that the Rams were going to receive a penalty as soon as they touched the puck. So the Cats pulled their goalie, added another skater, and played keep-away until they could set up for the score, which Munson and Cascella pulled off so well. Congratulations belong to Drew Moisson tonight for scoring his first goal of the season! Recently moved up to the forward line from his defensive position, Moisson made good by picking up a rebound and shooting it right in behind the goalie to the far corner. Congratulations, Drew! Not to be overlooked was Andrew Everett's goal. There was no stopping him as he skated the puck from our own blue line, through the neutral zone, down into the Rams' abode and without hesitation shot the thing up and in stick-side. Final score: 11 - 2, Wildcats. Additional assists tonight: Appelbaum - 2, Lillenberg, Longworth & Nathan Smallwood - 1 each. Wildcat shots: 36. Saves by Smallwood: 10.
