Tie Tie Again......

Tying seems to be the Wildcat hockey trend of the week. Tying tonight’s game (Dec. 10th) was the result of an INCREDIBLE Wildcat effort. Facing an impressive lineup of Whitfield skating talent, the Cats did a remarkable job of keeping the Warrior scoring efforts at bay. The Wildcat defense was surely vexing to the Warriors…….Appelbaum was hitting hard, Nathan Smallwood was pushing advancing forwards wide and into the boards. Hughes was a wall on the Whitfield blue line and wouldn't let any puck or any Warrior get past him. O'Brien was breaking up plays. Lots of effort was going into poke checking the puck away and intercepting passes. Never was a Whitfield man left unattended in front of the Wildcat net. Nice job, Wildcat defenders! In addition, goaltender Taylor Smallwood was yet again on top of his game. Fielding 28 shots during the game, he skillfully saved all but 2. Daniel Kaufman was the lone scoring Wildcat tonight. His first goal was actually one of those well-orchestrated events that brings great satisfaction to the on-lookers. Kaufman and Kim were charging the Warrior net, Kim down the boards with the puck, and Kaufman down the middle. At the perfect moment, Kim fired the puck directly to the storming Kaufman, who one-timed it on the fly with precision. The goalie must have been stunned. I certainly was. Kaufman’s 2nd goal came in the third. Everyone was in the neutral zone and a Warrior defenseman on his own blue line had the puck and was getting ready to pass it on up. Kaufman stole the puck from that unsuspecting fella and headed back towards the Whitfield net totally unopposed. He neatly deeked the goaltender and shot the puck in glove side. Final score tonight: 2 – 2. Kim & Cascella worked to assist Kaufman’s first goal. WCA shots: 21. Whitfield shots: 28
