Cats Send Bombers Home with No Goals
WEll, I took notes on every WCA goal that was scored tonight and for the most part, the notes all looked pretty much the same - "Jim Munson skated the puck from one end of the ice to the other dodging the defense right and left. He was moving so fast, spinning and deeking that the goalie couldn't move fast enough when the time came to save the shot." The first one went under the goalie as he was diving. The second went over the top of his leg pad. The third, Munson tapped in after the goalie had saved his first shot and was down. Didn't help the Bomber esteem that two of these first 3 goals were made when the Cats were short-handed. The 4th was made by Bill Franz as he and Munson charged the net together. Munson made a last-minute pass to Franz who neatly one-timed it right to the upper corner. AND number five Munson flipped top shelf. The goalie was so mesmerized, he didn't even move to make the save. Hat trick plus one and an assist for Munson. A goal for Franz. An assist for freshman, Stephen Lillenberg, his first point of the season. Taylor Smallwood was rock solid in goal and walked away with his first shut-out of the season. Final score: 5 - 0, Wildcats. Congratulations, Cats!!!
