Parents Advancing Westminster (PAW)

What is Parents Advancing Westminster (PAW)?

If your child attends Westminster Christian Academy, then you are a member of PAW! Parent volunteerism and support has long been an essential component of the Westminster community.

Prior to the creation of PAW in 1999, a number of different parent clubs organized and raised funds for various needs of the school community. PAW is designed to centralize parents' volunteer and fundraising efforts so that parents are better able to work together to advance Westminster.

The organization is directed by a volunteer board that is divided into various committees. Parent couples serve as the vice presidents of each committee, and the presidents coordinate the entire organization.

You don’t have to be a board member to play a vital role in PAW! We always need parents to volunteer to answer phones, coordinate mailings, pray for our school community, serve concessions, help students and teachers during Spirit Week and for other service opportunities. We would love for parents to use their unique talents to serve the Westminster community.

Why do parents participate in PAW?

"Westminster teachers have impacted my children for life. I love what I hear from them when they come home and talk about class, and so I love blessing the teachers and staff through PAW. I help parents understand what PAW is through communications and how they can make a difference. It is a wonderful parent organization; I’m so glad to serve with such great people."
Michelle Burke, co-president (along with husband Tim), 2009-2010

"Parents have given to improve the technology in the school--SMART Boards in many classrooms are just one example--to help families attend Westminster through financial aid, to add to equipment for the Learning Center, and so much more. Generous gifts are used to improve the school and our children’s education."
Ed Cline, co-vice president of athletics (along with wife Kim), 2010-11

"I would have missed out on wonderful friendships, encouragement, and a whole lot of fun if I hadn’t become an involved parent with PAW. Serving is fun when you are doing it together and for a great cause, and Westminster is a great cause."
Margaret Koebbe, co-president (along with husband Terry), 2008-09
