Special Services

The purpose of Special Services is to support the educational needs of families who have students with diagnosed disabilities. Westminster believes the educational needs of all children of covenant families should be met through its academic programs, including these special-needs students.

Participating in the Special Services Program requires completing additional application forms. These forms are available by contacting the admissions office. The use of the Special Services Program is an additional charge above the student tuition. The cost is determined by the program option selected.

The Learning Center (TLC) services are designed for students with diagnosed learning disabilities, language processing impairments; and/or attention deficit hyperactive disorder. The resource program offers limited remedial work in reading and writing but primarily runs parallel to and supports the existing curriculum. The program provides accommodations for and adaptation to the student’s classes. The goal of this program is to give students tools to succeed in an academic environment and to function as independent learners.

The Extended Learning Center (ELC) services are designed for students with significant learning needs that require small group and one to one attention much of the day. Remediation & life/social skills training are provided in small, intensive classes while inclusion in regular classes with paraprofessionals is also provided. Students with diagnostic profiles that include multiple learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD/ADD), and mild developmental delays will be considered for the program.

Program Options:
  • Full Time Services
Most students are enrolled in this option. These students receive daily service in The Learning Center classroom and many of the services listed above.

  • Consultative Services
The consultative students have an ISP (Individual Student Plan), are not enrolled in The Learning Center, and receive limited part-time services appropriate to their needs.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to call Director of Special Services Lucy Erdman at 314.997.2900, ext. 115.
