Applying for Financial Aid

Westminster uses School and Student Services (SSS) to process financial aid applications along with a review of tax and income information in order to determine financial aid awards. Please read all of the following instructions carefully; an incomplete or inaccurate application may delay or jeopardize your financial aid award.

All financial aid requests are confidential. In order to receive a financial aid decision in the same timeframe as your admissions decision, please adhere to the following procedures and deadlines.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

  • Visit School and Student Services for Financial Aid to access the online financial aid application.
  • Read the instructions and complete the online financial aid application (referred to as the PFS – Parents’ Financial Statement) thoroughly. Use SSS code #1009 in box 5 for Westminster Christian Academy.
  • Complete lines 1-4 on Federal Form 4506T. Return a signed but not dated copy to SSS either by mail or by uploading the copy to SSS.
  • Complete and submit your PFS to SSS by January 1 (February 1 for returning families). Send copies of your  2011 Federal Form 1040 with all accompanying schedules and your 2011 W-2s in a sealed envelope to Eileen Goebel, Westminster director of student accounts and financial aid, as soon as they are completed. (Note that in the case of returning families who have not previously applied for aid, copies of your 2009 and 2010 tax forms will also be required.)

Note: If one of the parents listed in Section A on the PFS is not employed, please explain the reasons for this in the space designated in Section F. If you anticipate that you will be using services of The Learning Center, please note this as well in the space designated in Section F.

It is the opinion of the school that, regardless of the marital status of an applicant’s parents, both of the child’s natural parents share the responsibility for educating their child. Thus, wherever possible, both must comply with the filing requirements as stated above.  In the case that the custodial parent has remarried, the financial situation of the stepparent will also be taken into account.

Requirements for Financial Aid Consideration

  • For new families: You have completed an admissions application for each of the children who you wish to enroll at Westminster, and those children have been admitted to the school.
  • For returning families: You have submitted reenrollment forms for your child(ren) for next year. You do not have any outstanding tuition, fee or bookstore balances from a previous year. You are up-to-date on the current year’s tuition.
  • Your financial aid application is complete. Your PFS and Form 4506T was submitted to SSS by January 1 (February 1 for returning families). Copies of appropriate tax forms were mailed to Westminster when complete. Families who submit applications after January 1 (February 1 for returning families) will only be eligible for any aid that may remain after all of the timely applicants' applications have been reviewed.
  • You recognize that financial aid is awarded on current assessed need. You will need to reapply every year. If your financial situation changes, your aid award may change as well.
