In the area of college and career counseling, Westminster Christian Academy's Counseling Center staff serves to provide support, direction and encouragement to students and parents. Our college and career counselor is a trusted resource who helps answer questions and coordinate Westminster's communication with colleges. College Counselor

• Encourages prayer
• Provides and teaches students and parents about college search resources
• Maintains contact with colleges
• Researches college and career trends and changes
• Teaches college planning skills to students
• Coordinates the St. Louis Christian College Fair held at Westminster
  
• Helps students discern God's will for their lives
• Runs parent workshops
• Encourages students to responsibly manage their time during the college application process
• Coordinates the mailing of completed college applications and application fees to ensure that appropriate school-related forms are included

Parent and Students

• Pray together consistently throughout the entire college application process
• Use the CollegeView workstation in the Counseling Center in order to establish an initial list of prospective colleges
• Visit college websites and read books and materials that describe a college's academics, tuition and fees, and atmosphere
• Attend college fairs
• Visit colleges in order to better discern which schools would fit the student well
• Meet with admission representatives
• Complete applications
• Research and apply for scholarships

We recommend that parents should facilitate this process and serve as the 'secretaries' in order to help the student stay focused and organized.
